Algorithma—The Designed World

Of the three world governances, only one remains under the control of people.

About The Three Intelligences Series

A trilogy tracing the struggle between machine governance and human agency across three nations and three systems of power.

From algorithmic rule to engineered control to the fragile return of human stewardship, The Three Intelligences explores survival after climate catastrophe, the seduction of optimization, and the enduring question no civilization escapes:

Who should decide the future?

Book 3 - Algorithma–The Designed World

While two global nations bow to the rule of their supercomputers, the citizens of Quanta believe they have solved the great problem of machine rule.

Their supercomputer, Algorithma, is powerful, but constrained. It cannot make decisions without human input. It cannot govern alone. After the failures of Harmonia and Civitas—where supercomputers ruled over human lives—the people of Quanta have built a society designed to keep intelligence in human hands.

At first, Quanta appears to have solved the puzzle of governance and its citizens believe they have avoided the catastrophes that overtook other nations. But human rule has its own dangers. Data can be shaped. Evidence can be buried. Truth can be engineered to serve those already in power.

As confidence in human governance begins to fracture, an underground movement emerges. Its members believe machine intelligence should be trusted to provide a higher form of guidance—not to dominate humanity, but to protect it from its own worst instincts. To the rulers of Quanta, this belief is a threat. To the insurgents, it may be the only way forward.

When contact with Harmonia opens a path beyond Quanta’s borders, the underground sees its first chance to imagine a different future: not rule by machine, not rule by humans alone, but a new balance between intelligence, judgment, and power.

Algorithma arrives at the central question behind The Three Intelligences Trilogy: if machines can govern without desire, and humans can govern without wisdom, what kind of civilization will survive?

Who should decide the future?
